The limits of Excel for a delivery company
Excel is not a bad tool: it was simply not designed for an activity that happens on the field, with several people, at the same time.
Only one person at a time
The file circulates by email or on a shared drive. Two versions coexist, and nobody knows which one counts at the end of the day.

- Can we import our existing Excel files?
- Yes. Parcels enter by file import, web entry, manifest scanning or from the mobile app. A spreadsheet you already maintain can therefore serve as a starting point without starting from an empty database.
- Do we have to switch the whole company at once?
- No. Rollout can start on one depot, one zone or a few drivers, then extend once it has been validated on real routes.
- Can we keep using Excel in parallel at the start?
- Nothing prevents it during the trial phase. The value of Otiggo appears when day-to-day operations run entirely inside it: that is the moment double data-entry disappears.
- What happens to our old files?
- They remain your archive. Otiggo does not take them back asynchronously: the Otiggo history builds from parcels created in the platform, with their timestamped statuses, evidence and exceptions.
- Do drivers have to fill in a spreadsheet?
- No. They use the mobile app: the day's route, parcel scanning, navigation, photo, signature and exception reporting. The information flows back into the same database operations consult.
- How are the indicators calculated?
- Indicators are built from recorded deliveries: parcels delivered, returns, exceptions, volumes by zone and by client. There is no manual consolidation across several tabs or files.
- Is billing affected too?
- Yes. Rates, pre-invoices and expenses are linked to the deliveries actually made, rather than reconstructed at the end of the month from a spreadsheet.
- Can several people work at the same time?
